About the Opportunity
The department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Institute for the Wireless Internet of Things (WIoT) is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to work on the design, development, and realization of future communications technologies. Guessing Random Additive Noise Decoding (GRAND) is the first algorithm that can decode all moderate redundancy codes with optimal accuracy, offering huge potential for future communication systems. You will be part of the team, including the original inventors, that is leading theoretical and algorithmic developments, and has been the first to implement GRAND in hardware, leading to record-breaking performance in chips. You will contribute to ongoing developments in theory, algorithms and translation to practice in new applications.
Qualifications:
Must have a PhD or equivalent in engineering or mathematics. Must be able to undertake full-time research and scholarship. Must be able to work in collaborative multi-institutional teams with senior and junior scholars. Strong foundations in information theory, communications and applied probability are required. Clear writing and presentation skills are essential.
A one-year post, with a possible extension to two years depending on availability of funds and sustained excellence in meeting the duties and expectations is offered.
