Position Summary
This position will assist in numerous aspects of the existing and future work of the Center on Race, Law and Justice and the Public Interest Resource Center (PIRC).
Essential FunctionsÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂ
- Conducts research (legal and other) and drafts advocacy and other pieces on various issues to generate innovative responses to racial inequality and discrimination with the work prioritizing law, data, and social science-informed interventions capable of creating concrete change in communities, institutions, and public policy in a number of areas in the domestic and global contexts.
- Contributes to materials providing information on specific public interest practice areas and makes organization specific information accessible for students and alumni.
- Assists with the administration of programming with the Public Interest Resource Center (PIRC) and the Center on Race, Law & Justice including support of:
- Pro bono initiatives and projects of student groups and their leadership, including starting new projects and expanding existing projects.
- DEI initiatives.
- Public interest post-graduate fellowship efforts including related programming, materials and resources, recruitment, and individual, student and alumni career counseling for project-based (primarilyEqual Justice Works Fellowship andSkadden Foundation Fellowships) and organization-based post-graduate fellowships, and government honors programs.
- Stein Scholars Program in Public Interest Law & Ethics
- Works to organize, publicize, and conducts programs and events to educate and recruit students to engage in public interest legal work while in law school and post-graduation.
- Organizes of larger events.
- Creates, updates, and distributes PIRC handbooks, public interest job search guides, student organization, program brochures, event posters and other publicity materials.
- The Law School’s public interest summer fellowship application, selection, and payment process.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as needed and assigned.

- Juris Doctor degree required.
- One year of experience working in a law school and/or with a non-profit or government organization (full-time or part-time). Previous work experience with volunteers strongly preferred.

- Demonstrated interest in public interest initiatives especially in the area of inequality and discrimination.
- Strong legal research and writing skills with ability to write copy for advertising/publicity and in-house publications a plus.
- Ability to take initiative to lead, create, continue projects.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Diversity, equity and inclusion experience, and a deep commitment to racial justice.
- Exhibited a serious commitment to pursue a career in public interest law or government service.
- Successful candidates should have a knowledge of and commitment to the goals of Jesuit Education.
