Job Description:
Position Overview:
The Communications Assistant is a full-time, grant funded position that will further SUNY's goal of achieving fair and inclusive access to quality higher education for people who are currently and formerly incarcerated by supporting the development and distribution of communication materials and providing administrative support to the Office of Higher Education in Prison.
Responsibilities:
Internal Communication and Logistics
- Coordinate logistics and travel for team events, site visits, conferences, and trainings
- Coordinate campus site visits as well as quarterly and semi-annual meetings
- Maintenance of the office's day-to-day operations, including managing office email accounts and calendars and preparing agendas for internal team meetings
External Communications
- Support the development of public facing communications materials including e-blasts, newsletters, documentaries, etc.
- Collaborate with the SUNY Communications Office to develop and execute marketing and social media materials
- Manage the day-to-day functions of the office's social media accounts
- Develop content and distribution of student newsletter
- Manage SUNY Community of Practice Listserv
Requirements:
Required Education/Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree and 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with higher education in prison field
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suites, social media platforms, and Canva
- Strong organizational and communication skills
Salary Range: The compensation for this role is between $47,000 to $55,000. The pay will depend on a variety of factors that may include but are not limited to experience, education, training, and certifications.
