Coordinator of Licensure and Graduate Advising (Student Services Professional 1 - MR07)

The Coordinator of Licensure and Graduate Advising will ensure the educator licensure process is completed accurately and in collaboration with both the Tennessee Department of Education and State Board of Education. The position will work with students to navigate initial licensure and additional endorsement needs. The Coordinator will support faculty, advisors, and other staff to ensure the School of Education remains in compliance with state educator licensure policy. Additionally, the position will be responsible for recruiting and advising graduate initial licensure students.
Responsibilities Include: an in-depth understanding of complex policies and requirements necessary for preparation programs to maintain state and national approval; provide critical data and/or complete high-level reports as required by federal and state entities; collaborate with leadership at institutional, college and departmental level to ensure policy-based decisions align with all licensure expectations; ensure the licensure application process is completely accurate based on State Board of Education policy; support students during the background and insurance process; utilize Banner to document benchmarks through the student program of study; attend bi-annual state meetings with licensure coordinators; communicate clearly and effectively via phone, email, in-person and virtually with local district leaders, teachers, current and potential students to answer licensure questions; maintain up-to-date licensure information on the School of Education website; be knowledgeable of State Board of Education policy as it relates to licensure requirements
The ideal candidate includes (but not limited to):
- Work experience in educator preparation, K-12 Education, or higher education advising
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Clearly understands and communicates licensure policy and program requirements to current and prospective students seeking educator licensure
- Knowledge of K-12 policy or higher education processes
- Knowledge of working with K-12 or higher education data
- Detail-oriented and highly organized to maintain records
- Efficient with multiple, on-going tasks
- Willing to take initiative and able to manage time sensitive tasks
- Collaborates effectively and professionally with faculty, staff, and community stakeholders
- Serves the K-12 education community
- Participates in School of Education committees

Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum Bachelor's degree conferred
- Experience in K-12 or higher education environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree
- Two years of experience in higher education or K-12 education
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Banner
