The CU System Office of Advancement ("System Advancement") is part of System Administration Office, providing excellent customer service, strategy, expertise, and efficiency to our partners on CU's campuses, Central Advancement, and the University of Colorado Foundation. Position Summary:
The Prospect Development Specialist serves as a member of the Prospect Development department, helping coordinate prospect management functions for the University of Colorado. The Prospect Development team supports the advancement (fundraising) activities conducted throughout the CU System, which includes the System Office, four distinct campuses, the President's Office, and the CU Foundation. This position is expected to nurture a comprehensive understanding of fundraising metrics and standard processes, support the execution and improvement of the University's prospect and moves management program, and work closely with central and campus-specific advancement teams to optimize fundraising outcomes with data-supported decision making at all stages of the prospect cycle. The incumbent will work particularly closely with the Research & Analytics team, which handles prospect research requests for the University of Colorado, and with fundraising staff on their assigned campus/schools.
This position will serve as a strategic partner and effective communication point with colleagues at all levels, while being data savvy and comfortable with quantitative and qualitative methods and analytics. They will be a critical member of the team at a transformative moment for our hardworking, ambitious advancement division. This position will strategize and partner with Development Research Analysts and Development Officers to support the creation and maintenance of high-capacity portfolios, maintain an active awareness of goals, objectives, and directions of the development program, and become a trusted advisor to support the achievement of the customer's strategic business goals. This position will coordinate and participate in top prospect strategy sessions and participate in annual Research, Analytics, and Prospect Development planning sessions with fundraising units to help formulate a strategic operating plan for each fiscal year. This position is also expected to seek opportunities for professional development that will improve job performance, develop and maintain a network of contacts with other prospect management professionals nationwide, and understand and apply national standard methodologies, processes, and technologies for prospect development. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Prospect Development and is exempt from the State of Colorado Classification system.
Where You Will Work:
The CU System Office of Advancement follows a "flexibility first" approach to work that defines how we manage and make use of in-person time. This is a hybrid role, working some days at home and at least one day a week at our UCCS campus in Colorado Springs, CO. There are also four separate callback weeks per year- when all our colleagues are expected to be together in the office. During callback weeks, this role is expected to work from the CU System office at 1800 Grant St. in Denver, Colorado.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Strategic Partnership
- Responsible for building relationships with and leading aspects of the prospect management needs of a portfolio of development officers (fundraisers) on a respective campus
- Collaborate with other teams to onboard new development officers and support staff
- Play a key front-facing role with campus partners by conducting regular portfolio optimization and prospect strategy meetings with development officers
- Travel to and spend at least one day per week at designated campus
- Meet with campus managers and leadership regularly to provide data and insights around development staff
- Bring insights from internal prospect development data and data curated by Research and Analytics team to life and translate them into actionable strategy (may include making the case for data-supported decisions related to fundraising and donor portfolios)
- Provide action plans and follow up consistently with central and campus partners
Portfolio, Pipeline, and Moves Management
- Responsible for data integrity, optimization, and entry related to fundraisers' management and cultivation of donors and fundraisers' goals and performance metrics
- Track development officer performance, providing progress reports, and conducting analysis of key metrics
- In partnership with Research and Analytics team, develop metrics to supervise pipeline activity, analyze and report on results and make recommendations for continued improvement
Special Projects
- Serve as subject matter expert on prospect management functionality in the implementation and optimization of the database
- Train and develop training catered to the needs of end users in partnership with Training Lead
- Develop and implement guidelines and standard processes for system features
- Recommend standard processes to better supervise, segment and analyze prospects
Internal Project Management
- Actively participate in agile stand ups and track/update projects in Monday.com

Salary: The anticipated hiring range has been established at $62,000 - $65,000.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education, or equivalent professional experience (professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis)
- One (1) year equivalent experience related to fundraising, prospect development, or data management and maintenance
- Ability to travel to assigned campus
Preferred Qualifications:
- Non-profit experience, preferably in a higher education fundraising environment, is highly desirable
- Two (2) years' Prospect Development experience
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with development officers or other workplace partnerships
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to establish and maintain partnerships with development staff at all levels
- Knowledge of fundraising practices
- Knowledge of industry-standard prospect development policies and procedures
- Knowledge of Salesforce or another fundraising database
- Ability to deal with confidential material and uphold high ethical standards
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
- Personal computer proficiency required, especially as related to the use of Microsoft Office Products, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint; Internet Explorer, donor tracking software, intranet, on-line research tools
- Ability to train others.
- Must be self-motivated, work independently or as part of a team, able to learn quickly, meet goals, and demonstrate problem solving skills.
- Expert written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, including political foresight, to build and maintain effective working relationships at all organizational levels with outside constituencies, and to work with both technical and non-technical personnel.
- Ability to communicate technical information in a clear and concise manner.
