About the Opportunity
The Associate Director of Academic Space Operations will work with College of Engineering and University administrators to plan and implement academic space and facilities development for the College, enabling the College to enhance its research and educational objectives. The Director of Academic Space Operations will:
- Provide assistance with strategy, evaluation, planning, and utilization considerations for space in the College envelope, including space needs for academic program delivery, new hires (faculty and staff), and other projects and initiatives.
- Conceptualize innovative and efficient approaches to academic/operational space utilization;
- Manage all aspects of relocations for faculty and staff;
- Develop and maintain the College's space inventory and allocation data (through Archibus, grad platform), including usage (e.g. office, research, instructional, administrative support) and optimization metrics;
- Manage the financing of projects, including funding for both lab and academic projects, budget review meetings, and project close outs (return of funds)
- Work effectively with Associate Director of Laboratory Planning & Safety Operations, administrators, facilities personnel, faculty, staff and students during the design and implementation phase of renovation projects to understand user needs and assure satisfactory results.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree with four to six years' experience with project management and administration in a higher education setting. Excellent interpersonal skills, strong written communication and organizational skills, strong attention to detail with a focus on customer service with faculty, staff, students and vendors. Must be highly organized and self-directed. Budget management required. Special Events planning/coordination required. Experience in dealing with students recommended. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software suite, space planning software (Archibus or equivalent) and experience with Banner accounting system and CONCUR preferred.
