Job Summary

The College of Engineering & Applied Science (CEAS) at CU Boulder launched Engineering Connections (EC) in Fall 2023 to support the academic, social, career, mental health and wellness needs of its students. Using a comprehensive and inclusive approach to student recruitment, persistence, and comprehensive success, the First-Year Experience (FYE) in Williams Village seeks to intentionally bring together all the resources necessary to create an equitable and robust student experience.

In partnership with the Engineering Connections Faculty Director, the EC Managing Director provides key leadership to a very engaged professional and student staff with a focus on team building, the empowerment of others and the layered cultivation of an EC culture rooted in core, agreed-upon values. As the campus representative for Engineering Connections, the Managing Director works closely with the Director of Residence Life, Residence Life Associate Director for Educational Initiatives, New Student & Family Programs Office, and multiple CEAS partners and collaborators to collectively plan and coordinate EC initiatives.

The position is responsible for knowing trends and high-impact practices in student success-especially related to first-year student onboarding, engagement, and persistence-along with how to build community in an academic environment and support student developmental landmarks. The position is also responsible for a robust culture of professional development, risk taking, innovation and assessment. The Managing Director will need to be highly entrepreneurial, flexible, and adaptable, while leading a team of staff in the same and in embracing uncertainty.

This strategic leader will supervise several CEAS staff, all of whom will be based on-site at Williams Village in support of the community.
