Job Description
The Tickle College of Engineering for the University of Tennessee, Knoxville is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as the Graduate Program Coordinator for the Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) department. This critical role will support the graduate programs by providing comprehensive administrative assistance and ensuring smooth program operations. You can read more about the department here.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate all aspects of the graduate program, including admissions, registration, graduate tours, graduate handbook updates, and graduation processes.
- Responsible for recruiting Graduate Teaching Assistants and providing the list to HR for hiring.
- Oversee the activities and performance of the ISE Graduate Student Ambassadors
- Recruit undergraduate and graduate students, including travel to relevant student meetings as well as collaborating with
- Create, manage, and strategize graduate program's social mediate outreach.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, key stakeholders, and other departments to enhance the overall graduate student experience including but not limited to developing a community for support, internships, job placement, and career mentorship.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in education, higher education administration, psychology, social work, STEM, or a field related to the job's duties is required.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in one or combination of the following: academic coaching, advising, student recruitment/retention or related student services utilizing a proactive and innovative approach which results in demonstrated outcomes in retention, graduation, and academic planning. Experience gained as a student, volunteer or in a professional setting will be considered.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite Applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to recognize critical situations and apply compliance and university policies and procedures.
- Ability to demonstrate sensitivity to needs of a diverse student population.
- Ability to manage time and schedule to meet department goals.
- Ability to independently and strategically manage time and plan visits, events and presentations for prospective students.
- Ability to lift, transport and distribute objects up to 25 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A master's degree in education, higher education administration, psychology, social work, STEM, or a field related to the job's duties is preferred.
- Experience working with students with diverse backgrounds.
- Two years of experience working in an administrative or student counseling capacity in a higher education setting.
- Experience within the field of Industrial Engineering.
- Knowledge of university financial aid and travel policies.
- Ability to work with new technologies to enhance recruitment efforts.
- Event planning skills.
