Position Overview:
The position is responsible for planning, preparing, implementing and evaluating activities and routines for a developmentally appropriate program according to NAEYC Accreditation Standards.
This position participates in the development and implementation of curriculum and is the primary instructor of classes, supervising classroom staff.

Duties may include:
  • Ensure classroom environments and curriculum honor the individual strengths, needs and interests of the classroom community
  • Observe and record developmental levels and progress
  • Develop partnerships with parents and provide sensitive, responsive care for all daily routines
  • Train, supervise and evaluate Childrens Center staff
  • Maintain a physical environment that promotes growth
  • Maintain a safe and sanitary environment
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Experience:
  • Planning and implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum or activities
  • Communicating and engaging with children
  • Following written instructions
  • Applying methods used to teach infants, toddlers and/or preschool children
  • Providing instruction, participating in or leading a team, or delegating duties and responsibilities

Required Education:
  • Willing to complete or begin the process towards a Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development-Family Studies, Early Childhood Special Education or Elementary Education. Timeline of completion established upon hire

Required Other:
  • Hold CPR and First Aid certifications, or be able to obtain within 1 month of hire
  • Must pass State of Idaho Health and Welfare background check
  • Enroll in Idaho Stars Professional Development System (PDS) within 90 days of hire

Additional Preferred:
  • Experience with, or knowledge of, typical and atypical development of children from six weeks to preschool age
  • Knowledge of CPR and First Aid procedures
  • Knowledge of NAEYC philosophy and standards
  • Active participant in Idaho Stars Professional Development System PDS

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
  • Physical ability to work around small children
  • Ability to lift, carry and/or otherwise move 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand, sit, run and climb stairs

Listed degree qualification is required at time of hire
