Position Information

Hiring Department: Student Government Association

Posting End Date: Open until filled.

Hours: 40 hours per week, standard Monday- Friday 8:00am- 5:00pm, flexibility is required on evenings and weekends

FLSA status: Exempt

Earliest Start Date: As soon as possible.

Salary: $46,550.00 Annually, non negotiable.

This position is security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code 51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information. A valid driver's license issued by the State where the applicant resides and insurability as defined in UTS 157 may be required to perform the position's essential functions.



Purpose of Position

Essential Functions

Coordinates and oversees SGA operations including meetings, training, leadership development, policy initiatives, events, and activities.

Coordinates and oversees the daily operations of SGA, including student employment contracts, academic verification, and guidance; committee schedules, conduct checks, special event contracts, and reports.

Advises the Students on Committees Council and other SGA committees.

Meets bi-weekly with the SGA Advisory Committee (as appointed by the AVP/DOS)

Coordinates student elections in collaboration with the SGA Advisory Committee and Student Government Executive Branch.

Provides assistance and support for Student Center Fee and other SGA-sponsored initiatives; assists with preparation and submission of forms, proposals, and resolutions.

Supports the work of student government officials in representing students and developing student success programs and initiatives, in collaboration with other departments.

Coordinates student government retreats and trainings, in collaboration with student government leadership; supervises students at conferences and other travel-related activities.

Guides students in monitoring revenue and expenses for SGA accounts and special funds.

Supports the development and maintenance of the SGA constitution, by-laws, and other governing documents.

Provides oversight, guidance, and monitoring of programs, events, and activities sponsored by SGA.

Maintains historical records of events, proposals, and actions taken by the SGA; assists the SGA in preparing official meeting minutes.

Develops and maintains student government web pages; supports social media initiatives and updates.

Coordinates the SGA annual recognition and awards banquet, in collaboration with student government leaders.

Maintains effective correspondence with an assigned representative from University Communications.

Coordinates with the President's Office for events requiring attendance by the university president.

Keeps abreast of best practices within student government organizations in higher education.

Availability to work outside regular business hours, including evenings and weekends, may be required

Supervises and trains student employees.

Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Required Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's Degree

and

Experience: Three years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. College student development or related field; previous experience (less than one year of full-time equivalent) with leadership development programs and coordinating events and activities

Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated experience in engaging and supporting college students
