Position Description
Manages a unit within a department. Plans, organizes and develops goals and procedures for the unit. Represent the unit to administrators, outside agencies and others on relevant matters. Supervises subordinate staff.

Major/Essential Functions

Receives job tasks from Senior Managing Director and Assistant Director.
Performs all duties in a safe and professional manner and in accordance with established Environmental Health & Safety, and departmental policies and procedures using Proper Protective equipment.
Assign job tasks to appropriate crew.
Make Performance evaluations of crew leader, groundskeepers, technicians, and tree trimmers.
Inspect job sites for installation accuracy and safety conformity.
Communicate with crew leader for crew needs to accomplish jobs.
Oversee training of grounds keeper by crew leader in proper use of grounds equipment (i.e., lawn mowers, edgers, weed eaters, etc.).
Keep and submit work order records of charges for all complete jobs.
Identify, correct, and prevent grounds hazards.
Assist in and operate any necessary equipment needed for campus maintenance.
Attend Continuing Education seminars for updating and retention of licensing.
Insure that personnel use correct horticultural, pesticide, irrigation, signal control or street and road repair practices and procedures in daily grounds work.
Performs related work as needed.
This is an essential personnel position. You will need to be available for on call duty for emergency maintenance or to assist in campus preparation due to inclement weather or hazardous weather conditions.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree plus three years supervisory experience; OR a combination of education and/or supervisory experience to equal seven years.

Preferred Qualifications
Class A Commercial Drivers License. State Pest Control License or willingness to obtain Licensed Irrigator or willingness to obtain.
