Job Description:
The Fredonia Migrant Education Program is seeking a dedicated and Bilingual Tutor/Advocate to provide essential educational and advocacy services to migrant students. As part of our mission to assist migrant program eligible students in meeting New York State standards for graduation and preparing them for post-high school education and careers, the ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting the educational journey of these students in the counties of Western NY.
Job Duties:
- In-Person and Virtual Educational Sessions: Conduct in-person educational sessions to migrant students within the designated area. These sessions will be designed to address the unique educational needs and challenges of students from preschool through high school, including out of school youth (OSY). Develop individualized education sessions that align with school and state standards.
- Data Tracking: Keep accurate records of the services provided to each student and enter the information into the program database. Regularly update student progress to ensure effective tracking and reporting. Maintain comprehensive service and activity records for each assigned student, documenting progress and achievements.
- Resource Development: Gather program resources and materials and develop targeted lessons and educational materials aligned with the specific needs of the migrant students in the area.
- Curriculum Development: Collaborate with program staff to develop curriculum for various programming and activities that enhance student learning experiences.
- Student and Family Engagement: Establish strong rapport with students and their families through home contacts, fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment. Support communication between assigned school districts and parents.
- Professional Development & Growth: Attend local and state meetings, workshops, and training sessions to stay updated with the latest educational trends, methodologies, and best practices. Actively participate in professional development opportunities to enhance expertise and contribute to the program's success.
- Online Platforms: Utilize internet-based platforms for virtual meetings, instruction, and data entry as required for remote service delivery such as Zoom or Face Time along with using email to communicate.

Requirements:
- Fluency in English and another language (Spanish preferred) to effectively communicate with migrant students and families.
- Associates Degree or higher. Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
- Experience working with migrant communities, diverse populations, or underserved youth is highly desirable.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities and deadlines effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students, families, and fellow staff members.
- Proficiency in using technology for virtual instruction, data entry, and communication purposes, including MS Office.
- Commitment to the educational success and empowerment of migrant out-of-school youth.
- Reliable transportation for travel within the designated area to meet with students.
- Ability to accompany and transport parents/children to appointments.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends.
Additional Information:
Salary: $20.00 - $22.00 an hr.
