Job Summary
Florida Gulf Coast University is a comprehensive University dedicated to quality education, research, and service. Assignments will include teaching, at the graduate level. Teaching assignments may be on the main campus or at off-campus sites within our region. Additional duties may be assigned by supervisor.
Job Description
Typical duties include but not limited to:
- Plans and teaches in assigned course(s).
- Attends course orientation and faculty meetings, as required.
- Provides primary instruction and evaluation of students against department and accreditation standards.
- Prepare syllabi, instruction materials; coordinate lectures and tests.
- Provide professional mentoring to students.
- Contribute to course and/or curriculum development.
- Function as an effective, active, and collegial team member.

- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Additional Job Description
Minimum qualifications
- Masters in Counseling.
- All candidates must have at least two years of experience in the field.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience teaching courses in Mental Health Counseling, including Practicum and Internship.
- Experience in teaching at the University or graduate level, supervision experience, and experience in the counseling profession.
- Doctorate in Counseling.
- Graduates from CACREP accredited programs will be given preference.
- Experience with on-line learning management systems like Canvas or Blackboard as well as instruction/ supervision experiences that use active learning in online and face to face classrooms is preferred.
- Licensure as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor
Knowledge, skills, and abilities

- Possess the knowledge of general written standards and procedures utilized, and have the ability to read, interpret, and follow procedural and policy manual related to the job tasks.
- Demonstrate the ability to respond to supervision, guidance and direction in a positive, receptive manner and in accordance with stated policies.
- Provide quality customer service by creating a welcoming and supportive environment.
- Present a professional image in word, action and attire.
- Apply effective techniques to create working relationships with others to achieve common goals; successfully communicates and collaborates with others to achieve goals.
- Demonstrate skills necessary to look at situations and processes critically to make recommendations for improvement.
