Position Summary:
The University of Idaho department of Animal, Veterinary and Food Sciences is seeking a tenure track Assistant Professor. This professor teaches 3-4 courses (10 credits) annually, including Food Chemistry, Instrumental Analyses, Food Processing, and/or other courses related to their areas of expertise (40%). The professor advises graduate students and serves on graduate committees consistent with departmental performance expectations, and the CALS Policies for Faculty Performance Expectations, Annual Performance Evaluations, and Promotion and Tenure Criteria, according to the department's needs and as directed by the department chair (5%). Preference will be given to candidates with background and research interests in dairy foods or beef processing.

The professor will conduct research in the field of food chemistry and food quality, publish in appropriate peer-reviewed (refereed) journals of the highest possible quality, continue with technology transfer activities, present findings at professional conferences, and submit proposals to and secure funding from extramural agencies, including but not limited to Federal agencies, commodity commissions, and others, to fund this work. (55%) The professor will mentor graduate students in thesis research, serve on graduate committees, and have a current and approved HATCH project.
Faculty are expected to attend faculty meetings and to participate in committees and service at the department, college and/or university level. Professional service is also expected, including but not limited to service to disciplinary associations, editorial boards and reviews of journal manuscripts, grant proposals, and external promotion packets and should be documented annually as part of outreach activities that are an important part of the land grant mission.
