Position Summary:
The Department of Animal, Veterinary and Food Sciences is seeking to hire an assistant professor for a tenure track Research Faculty - Extension Specialist position at the University of Idaho. Consumer food safety is an essential component of food safety education of consumers and has been a long-standing commitment of University of Idaho Extension and food science education. There is tremendous demand from consumers statewide for this position. This role will serve 0% teaching and advising, 25% scholarship and creative activity, 70% outreach and extension, and 5% university service and leadership. This position provides food safety training to consumers statewide, and will participate in statewide outreach, and will also conduct publishable research on food safety.

Minimum Education/Degree Required:
Listed degree qualification is required at time of hire.
Required Qualifications:
- PhD in Food Science, Family and Consumer Sciences, Nutritional Sciences, Food Microbiology, or a closely related discipline.
- Experience with informed and cutting-edge community-based food safety programs.
- Experience with written and oral communication skills.
- Experience with implementing food safety programs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in Extension.
- Demonstrated experience in the development of initiatives aimed at enhancing institutional and community nutrition and food safety groups.
- Experience in grant application and administration.
