Position Description
Reporting to the Executive Director of the Museum of Texas Tech University, the Museum Outreach & Engagement Liaison will work with faculty, university graduate/undergraduate students, and community members (school districts, cultural institutions, service institutions) to create and maintain mutually beneficial collaborations and partnerships to address the needs of the University and the community. These collaborations and partnerships will align with the Museum's strengths and capacities. The resulting programs and services will be provided in collaboration with or by designated outreach and engagement-focused museum staff, graduate students, and interns. The Liaison will also have the capacity, capability, and directive to provide some programmatic deliverables and services.



Major/Essential Functions
  • Foster and maintain relationships between the Museum and its engagement-focused team members and university faculty and community members.
  • Develop and host workshops, presentations, and meetings to create/cultivate partnerships and to catalyze projects.
  • Identify community needs by working closely with community partner staff.
  • Develop and implement programmatic deliverables and services and assist in Museum engagement programs.
  • Represents the Museum by attending internal and external meetings.
  • Contribute, develop, and assist in advocating, implementing, and improving museum signature programs and associated data collection and reporting.
  • Engage in internal (Museum) and external (campus and community) grant funding opportunities.
  • Serve as a resource and point of contact for members of the campus and external community.
  • Articulate the values and impacts of the Museum and its outreach and engagement.
  • Be a mentoring and active participating resource for graduate students conducting engagement activities under the auspices of (or in collaboration with) the Museum.
  • Serve on committees and working groups that the Executive Director assigns.
  • Serve as an advisor and sounding-board for the Executive Director.


Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and four years of experience developing or managing programs or projects. Additional job related experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
A Master's degree and/or teacher certification.
