Job Description:
The Assistant Director of Enrollment Operations & Data at the College of Law is responsible for data analysis and reporting, development and implementation of admissions and financial aid strategies, forecasting, and scholarship tracking. The position will manage, implement, and administer law admissions and financial aid databases. Responsible for departmental budget management and oversight of office operations and staff. In collaboration with other Admissions staff, consults with prospective students and attends local recruitment events.

- Data Analysis and Reporting, Admissions and Financial Aid Strategies, Forecasting, and Scholarship Tracking - Data analysis of prospect, applicant, admit, and matriculated applicant information. Working closely with leadership, assist in creating and implementing admission and yielding strategies for each application cycle and adjusting as the cycle progresses. Create forecasting models for admissions and financial aid. Work closely with the Office of Financial Aid to track and maintain scholarship spend to assist in reaching discount rate goals. Work closely with the College of Law marketing team to ensure that the content on the College of Law's Admissions and Financial Aid websites are updated and accurate. Responsible for reviewing content for the website throughout the admissions cycle ensuring information, including program requirements, are accurate and up to date. Responsible for submitting data to SU constituents and to the ABA to comply with ABA annual reporting requirements. Assist in creating admissions presentations for Syracuse Law and Syracuse University leadership.
- Budget Management and Staff Supervision - Work closely with the College of Law Budget Office to develop and monitor Admissions office budget, including recruitment events and travel, supplies, promotional items, marketing, publications and printing, and subscriptions. Provide direct supervision of the Recruitment and Operations Specialist including training, oversight of assigned projects (including scheduling of fall recruitment registration, admission events, travel, etc.) and day to day responsibilities. Interviews and makes hiring recommendations for Admissions staff. In conjunction with Director and Associate Director, conducts performance reviews for direct reports.
- Manage, Implement, and Administer Law Admissions and Financial Aid Databases - Design, modify, and administer new admissions databases including Unite and Slate and the law school admissions/financial aid portions of the PeopleSoft database. Lead new software and/or database implementations and integrations. Identify/implement opportunities for increased operational efficiency. Perform yearly application build out and management including mapping, updates, and coordinating with the leadership for best practices. Serve as primary COLUnite liaison with LSAC and the COL Functional Business Analyst for database-related issues. Attend meetings and training workshops. Train COL staff in admissions systems and database usage. Responsible for applicant information load from the admissions database to the SU student database including automatic and individual data transfer, and for identifying and correcting issues in the admissions database proactively and retroactively. Compile reports which rely on data management. Design and modify reports and applications to meet data reporting and analysis needs of the various law school department leads. Troubleshoot database errors, including developing and implementing solutions. Ensure the maintenance/coordination of clean data which requires weekly and monthly audits.
- Review and Communication Process Administration - Ensure that all law degree program' applications, JD and LLM, are collected, updated, completed, and evaluated in a timely, thorough, and consistent manner involving upwards of 2,500 applications per year in 5 different programs with different requirements. Monitor application collection and review. Exercise judgment and discretion about interpreting Enrollment Management policies, especially regarding application documentation and deadlines. Conduct annual after-action review of recruiting/yield strategy. Ensure that admission and scholarship decisions are made consistently and in accordance with College of Law policy and goals. Communicate with reviewers and applicants regarding application documentation. Respond to questions from applicants.
- Prospect/Applicant Consulting and Attend Local Recruitment Events - Correspond individually with prospects and applicants via phone, video, and emails to answer questions about Syracuse Law programs, joint degree opportunities, merit scholarship process, etc. Provide follow-up and student connections after visit. Attend a limited number of local recruitment events.
