International Compliance Specialist/DSO

POSITION: (PT) International Compliance Specialist/DSO
Effective immediately: Part-time International Compliance Specialist/DSO, International Affairs Department, Wilmington University.

Requirements: A High school diploma or equivalent is required. Certification as a Designated School Official is preferred. The candidate must have up to a minimum of one year of experience to successfully perform the job. Must have excellent communication, customer service, and organization skills. Must be detail-oriented and able to work with diverse populations. Must be self-directed and able to make decisions independently. Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office products. Knowledge of Recruit, Banner, or other Microsoft-based Student Information System preferred but not required. Must have prior experience working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Must maintain professionalism and confidentiality in all situations. Must demonstrate respect for diversity in the workplace and a commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive work environment that values the contributions of all employees.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
  • Process International Transfers and Embassy Packets for students as directed by the International Admissions Manager.

  • Process International New Student Applications. 

  • Register students in the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS).

  • Process I20 forms for International Students attempting to obtain the F-1 Student Visa.

  • Assist the Engagement teams with questions through Teams Messenger.

  • Review all documents submitted by international students for accuracy and compliance with federal rules.

  • Create, process, and maintain accurate records of prospective F-1 Students and their Dependents.

  • Enter all required data accurately into the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS).

  • Follow all rules, deadlines, and policies as they pertain to processing student records.

  • Communicate with all new and existing students the requirements for maintaining their F-1 visa status. (Course Loads, Types of Classes to be taken, Class attendance, and good Academic Progress)

  • Communicate with all incoming overseas students in reference to the US embassy interview appointments, F-1 Visa approvals, and pre-arrival needs.

  • Meet with current international students to discuss traveling and obtaining a driver's license.

  • Assist the International Admissions Manager with hosting international events at the University.

  • Promote and foster an inclusive and diverse environment for all students, faculty, and staff.

  • Perform duties as assigned by the Manager of International Admissions.


Hours of Employment: Generally, Monday to Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (29 hours per week). However, the incumbent must remain flexible with their hours and schedule to accommodate the department's and/or the University's needs. Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.
