Job Description:

The Learning Commons Coordinator manages the day-to-day operations of the Learning Commons, located in Paul Meek Library. The coordinator organizes and implements daily tutoring services and mentors and manages student tutors in accordance with Learning Commons policies, which are developed in consultation with leaders in the tutoring centers, the Paul Meek Library, and the Center for Teaching and Learning. The coordinator is responsible for collection and reporting of assessment data and will make recommendations for adjustments to learning support services in conjunction with the Writing Center Director, Student Success, and library faculty and staff. The coordinator will provide assistance with interviewing, selecting, and tracking established training protocols for student tutors, scheduling access and managing learning commons resources, and close collaboration with library faculty and staff. The position reports to the Assistant Director of Student Support Services.



Responsibilities
Job responsibilities:

Tracks usage and administers established assessment tools
Manages databases and usage logs related to student tutoring support
Prepares and submits reports and analyses related to tutoring and student success efforts within the Leaming Commons.
Creates communication campaigns and contributes to efforts to market and publicize the Leaming Commons
Works with partners on campus to recruit tutors and promote student use, including events and special functions
Serves on committees or provides support for projects or initiatives as identified by supervisor
Provides training and/or teaches introductory training modules for student tutors as qualifications allow and circumstances dictate within the supplemental instruction or tutoring programs
Contributes to tutoring/student support in areas of specialty
Responsible for the social media presence of the Learning Commons
Other duties as assigned within the area of Student Success

Qualifications
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree
Two years of similar work experience in an educational setting
Demonstrably strong college-level writing skills
Experience tutoring and/or teaching
Familiarity with Office 365, Canvas, and Zoom
In-person and virtual communication skills
Enthusiasm for the learning process and for helping students succeed
Flexible and adaptable approach to new methods of working and learning
Ability to work independently
Leadership and mentoring skills
Experience with collecting and reporting on data
Commitment to student service including the ability to effectively serve diverse communities
Tact and discretion handling student information and student issues

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree
Three years of work experience in higher education
Experience working in a learning support center and/or peer education
Experience with administrative work including assessment protocols
Graduate study or certifications in ESL, English, Education, or related subjects desirable
