Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Financial Aid Technology and Operations for Student Financial Services, the Associate Director for Student Financial Services assists in managing the technical processes related to the utilization of Powerfaids and the design and maintenance of business processes to meet end-user requirements.



This position will evaluate, analyze, and process detailed confidential reports to determine student eligibility for financial assistance using both federal and institutional methodology. Provides leadership, administrative effectiveness, and financial aid services through an emphasis on individual attention to students and high-quality customer service.



The Associate Director might be required to work at other Fordham campuses. Some evening and weekend work is required.



Essential Functions

  • Involved in all areas of financial aid administration and support, including but not limited to the counseling of students and parents, need analysis, processing of applications, packaging, facilitating the utilization of financing options, and coordinating and taking responsibility for the administration of specific financial aid programs, i.e., scholarships, PELL, HEOP, TAP, etc. as assigned.

  • Reads, interprets, communicates, and supports compliance with most recent regulatory releases and procedures for assigned programs.

  • Writes preliminary specifications for the development of computer programs and reports, as well as assists with implementation and testing of updated software.

  • Manages the Award Letter, Missing Information and TAP processes.

  • Manages and updates the Financial Aid website.

  • Provides technical support for financial aid processes and reporting.

Management Responsibilities

Supervises the work of other Fordham employees who are individual contributors. Responsible for hiring, training and developing, managing performance and administering corrective action. Has significant input in compensation decisions.



Additional Functions

  • Responsible for assisting in maintaining and troubleshooting interfaces among the various student systems.

  • Analyzes large amounts of data using advanced Excel functions, including but not limited to pivot charts and macros.

  • Trains staff on PowerFAIDS and BANNER navigation.

  • Performs Financial Aid, Financing, and Admissions presentations.

  • Participates in professional development workshops.




Required Qualifications: Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Minimum of four years' diverse experience in financial aid.




Required Qualifications: Knowledge and Skills

  • Proven administrative skills. Verbal and written communication skills.

  • Must have advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Access.

  • Effective data analytics and literacy and presentation skills.

  • Successful candidates should have a knowledge of and commitment to the goals of Jesuit Education




Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree preferred.

  • Minimum three years' management experience.

  • Knowledge of Powerfaids, Banner Systems, and SPSS.




Minimum Starting Salary: $85,000



Maximum Starting Salary: $95,000



Note: Salary is commensurate with qualifications, experience, and skills.
