Job Summary:

The Genomics Core at the CU Anschutz Medical campus is looking for one full-time faculty-level Research Associate with a long-term mindset.

Founded in 1999, the Genomics Core is the largest academic genomics facility in the entire Rocky Mountain region. We are consistently at the forefront of adopting new technologies and we need MS-level or PhD-level scientists with meticulous and experienced bench skills who can manage and operate these new and advanced technologies. Your prospective expertise in these new technologies will impart you with unique qualifications to provide advisements and guidance to researchers; thus, establishing your name as the foremost expert on these new technologies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process samples for NGS and Proteomics technologies using well-established wet-lab protocols in a timely manner.
  • Provide advisements and guidance to Principal Investigators and their team on suitability and practicality of utilizing NGS and Proteomics in their research.
  • Establish and maintain long-term collaborations with high-profile researchers and other service cores on CU-Anschutz campus to enable proximity benefits, network effects, and synergistic workflows that deters competition from external service organizations.
  • Enable self-guided education and stay up to date on novel technologies for consideration, adoption, and distribution via the Genomics Core service network in the future.
  • Process, manage, deliver and quality control raw NGS data that the core lab generates.
  • Develop and maintain a variety of reports and communicate data to core lab clients.
  • Develop data management plans/goals and communicate project plans and outcomes with team members and clients.
  • Cluster server administration (SGE); cluster queueing systems (qsub and bsub).
  • Participate in project development and planning related to data management of information systems with current and new technologies.
  • Operate and maintain NGS and Proteomics equipment.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
  • PhD (or MS with equivalent relevant experience) in biochemistry, molecular biology, or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in one or more of the following techniques:
    • Molecular biology/immunology
    • NGS
    • Proteomics

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated expertise in one or more biological assay(s) that require strong attention to detail
  • Strong publication record that corroborates wet lab skills
  • Experience in bioinformatics
  • Experience in histology
  • Experience in cell biology
  • Experience in molecular biology

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Long-term mindset

  • Able to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

$61,092 to $90,000 annually.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
