The Department of Radiology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure clinician educator track. Expertise is required in the specific area of Interventional Radiology. Applicants must have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree. American Board of Radiology certified with CAQ and completion of fellowship training in interventional radiology or completion of a residency in interventional radiology is required.

Teaching responsibilities may include daily clinical supervision and teaching of residents and fellows during procedures and conferences, as well as participating in interdisciplinary conferences with clinical sub-specialties. Teaching of medical students will be limited to those rotating through the Department of Radiology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, and the Philadelphia Veterans Affairs Medical Center. In addition, the candidate will prepare learning materials and lectures, as well as teaching posters and presentations for national review.

Clinical responsibilities may include performing minimally invasive image-guided interventional procedures, as well as performing and/or overseeing interventional studies and consultations with patients and referring physicians. The successful candidate will also participate in the Interventional Radiology off-hours on-call program, including evening, night, and weekend coverage.

Research or scholarship responsibilities may include developing a focused body of research in a field within Interventional Radiology. The successful candidate will have prior research experience, including evidence of training in research methodology, and have demonstrated evidence of peer-reviewed scholarship. Ample support and mentorship for research will be provided.

The IR division has an active outpatient clinic, consulting service, and inpatient admitting service. The IR Division at Penn has a considerable depth of expertise, performing more than 12,000 procedures annually. More than half of them are therapeutic, covering every aspect of the field. Penn Interventional Radiology provides clinical services for the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, Pennsylvania Hospital, and the Philadelphia Veteran Affairs Medical Center.
