Position Summary:
CSCU is developing a pool of applicants for potential part-time teaching positions in the Continuing Education and Workforce Development within the non-credit division at the College. The Non-Credit Lecturer must meet all teaching expectations, as outlined by the Director of Workforce Development.
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Fundamentals of Marine Service Technician Instructor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in marine technology, mechanical systems, and hands-on training, with the ability to educate and inspire the next generation of marine service technicians. This role will involve teaching students the foundational principles and practices of marine service, ensuring they gain both theoretical knowledge and practical skills essential for success in the industry. Incumbents will have opportunities for professional development and certifications, collaborative and supportive work environment and access to state-of-the-art facilities and equipment.
Example of Job Duties:
Under the direction of the Director of Workforce Development and Continuing Education, the incumbent responsible for delivering high-quality instruction and training to individuals aspiring to become Marine Service Technicians through effective performance in these essential duties:
- Teach courses in the Fundamentals of Marine Service Technician program, focusing on marine engine repair, diagnostics, maintenance, and safety procedures.
- Develop and update curriculum to ensure the content aligns with industry standards and technological advancements.
- Provide hands-on training and practical demonstrations to enhance student understanding of marine systems.
- Assess student performance through exams, projects, and practical evaluations.
- Offer guidance and mentorship to students, supporting their academic and career goals.
- Maintain and update laboratory equipment, tools, and materials.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and industry professionals to enhance program quality and outcomes.
- Participate in professional development activities to stay current with industry trends and certifications.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Marine Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in marine service or related technical fields.
Incumbents are required to have demonstrated advanced knowledge and abilities in the following:
- Strong knowledge of marine engines, electrical systems, and diagnostic tools.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts in an accessible and engaging manner.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to student success and a passion for hands-on, experiential learning.
Candidates must possess proven ability to effectively work with culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and students. Experience with reflective, interactive, culturally responsive pedagogical teaching techniques. They are expected to have excellent oral and written communication skills along with strong Information technology literacy skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams etc.)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous teaching or training experience.
- Certifications in marine service or related areas (e.g., ABYC, Mercury, Yamaha, etc.)
- Experience with modern marine diagnostic and repair technologies.
- Prior experience in a vocational or technical education setting.
Salary:
Commensurate with specific course, location & demand.
