Job Description
In support of the university's enrollment and retention goals, the communications coordinator is primarily responsible for executing communications plans directed toward incoming students and families through email, web, and print presence. Specific departments include University Honors, New Vol Experience, First-Year Programs, Vol Success Team, Student Success Express, and the Vol Edge.


Responsibilities
With direction from the associate director, the communications coordinator builds communications, via html coding, with approved content to incoming students and families through the university's Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platforms including Slate, Emma, and MarketingCloud/Salesforce. With technical expertise, the coordinator builds, uploads, and tests queries required for targeted communications in the CRM.

Contributing to the university's enrollment and retention goals, the incumbent liaises with other campus partners to ensure communications to incoming students and families are accurate, consistent, and coordinated to ensure maximum effectiveness.

The incumbent participates in cross-divisional communications strategy and planning meetings and provides input to ensure communications are timely, coordinated, and that appropriate channels and methods are used.

The coordinator creates digital and printed marketing materials directed toward incoming students and families including fliers, PowerPoint presentations, print pieces (e.g., mailers, brochures), social media, and websites. The coordinator liaises with University Printing & Mailing to print and deliver materials. The coordinator frequently uses Adobe Creative Suite and is responsible for ensuring creative design of materials meets division and University branding standards.

The coordinator runs reports and conducts analysis on the effectiveness of communications and shares with Student Success & Enrollment Management Communications leadership. The coordinator also develops recommendations around timing, modality, and content to enhance the overall effectiveness of communications.

The incumbent ensures compliance with university branding and marketing standards.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a communications field by date of hire
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without need now or in the future for sponsorship for employment visa status.
  • Experience: Experience creating and executing communications content.
  • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Understanding of HTML coding and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software; Knowledge of marketing and communications fundamentals and ability to translate them into strategic execution in support of strategic goals; Basic knowledge of HTML coding; Ability to analyze data and develop recommendations based on data; Skill with using Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software and processes; Skill with various design software programs such as Adobe Creative Suite and/or Canva.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Anticipated hiring range: $45,000 minimum
