Position Summary
Reporting to the Associate Vice President of DevOps, the Director of Platform Services directs the activity of the Cloud Services, Platform Operations, and Systems teams, delivering a premier computing infrastructure to the university on premise and in the cloud.
This position evaluates vendor proposals and vendor solutions for strategic IT posturing and planning and collaborates with the Information Security & Assurance team to ensure that enterprise-wide computer security upholds the University €™s standards.
This position may require occasional evening, weekend, and holiday hours.
Essential Functions
- Directs the efforts of the Cloud Services, Platform Operations, and Systems groups, providing oversight, administration, and lifecycle support for all systems and related services deployed on-site, as well as AWS, Azure, GCP, and similar infrastructure providers.
- Advises and consults with other department leaders to promote and support effective use of technology, focusing on infrastructure and platform services.
- Collaborates with executive management in developing the long-term technology roadmap and budget.
- Establishes and fosters key vendor relationships to ensure a strong and vibrant IT infrastructure.
- Ensures continued review and then adoption of new technologies and products that will improve delivery of IT infrastructure services.
- Participates as a principal member of the University €™s Incident Response Framework.

Management Responsibilities
Provides strategic leadership and supervises others who supervise. Responsible for hiring, training, developing, managing performance, administering corrective action, makes compensation decisions and for managing strategic views at a high level.
Required Qualifications: Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Minimum of seven years of experience delivering IT support services.
- Minimum of three years of experience leading teams in Academic/Enterprise computing, Cloud Services, and/or Dev/Ops environments.
Required Qualifications: Knowledge and Skills
- Excellent communication skills, including presentation skills and the ability to communicate technical information across all constituencies.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously.
- Strong skills in the following ITIL practices: change management, incident management, problem management, and service management.
- A good understanding of what it takes to build highly available applications or solutions.
- Knowledge and experience with security policies and best practices in an IT environment.
- Demonstrated expertise in vendor management, determination of needs, RFP, etc.
- Familiarity with the following technologies:
- System Engineer for Microsoft Windows or Linux systems.
- Storage (NAS/SAN).
- Virtualization.
- Network Security.
- Vendor Management.
- Cloud Services.
- Process Automation/DevOps.
- Project Management (traditional/agile).
- System lifecycle management.
- Service Brokering.
- System Design and Architecture.
- Successful candidates should have a knowledge of and commitment to the goals of Jesuit Education
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong understanding of technical, business, and cultural environment of higher education.
Minimum Starting Salary: $145,000
Maximum Starting Salary: $181,613
Note: Salary is commensurate with qualifications, experience, and skills.
