Position Summary

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Emerging Educational Technologies and Learning Space Design, the lead technologist for Emerging Educational Technologies coordinates and strategizes emerging technologies for academic teaching, learning, and research.



This role performs technical research; evaluates and tests new and emerging technologies for pedagogy; and is the subject matter expert, technical support, and maintenance lead for Emerging Technologies €" Learning and Innovation Technology Environments (LITE) and maker spaces.



Depending on event schedules and urgent technical issues, the job may require flexible working hours, including evenings and weekends, and some travel between campus buildings and locations is required.





Essential Functions

  • Provides customer service and support in the LITE centers.

  • Oversees the technical support students and staff of LITE centers and maker spaces, providing direction to staff members, reviews the team €™s work for quality and thoroughness, and subject matter expert of all production equipment.

  • Evaluates and recommends resource requirements for Emerging Technologies projects.

  • Is the administrator of A/V digital signage within LITE, A/V equipment within the podcast rooms at RH and LC, and the one-button studios at RH and LC.

  • Researches and develops pedagogical strategies incorporating emerging technologies with faculty courses, student academic projects, and research.

  • Performs daily checks, including visual and tactile inspection of emerging technologies in the LITE centers and Makerspaces. Troubleshoots and performs repairs of emerging technologies as necessary.

  • Maintains all technical equipment.

  • Escalates unresolved maintenance issues to the assistant director and communicates status, progress, and impact. Provides a brief daily recap to the assistant director of the day €™s events, reports resource usage, and generates additional reporting as requested, such as OKRs.

Required Qualifications: Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of three years of relevant technical experience, including audio-visual and project management experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.




Required Qualifications: Knowledge and Skills

  • Ability to actively contribute and oversee all phases of projects related to learning space design and emerging technologies.

  • Excellence in communication, personal skills, and presentation experience.

  • Successful candidates should have a knowledge of and commitment to the goals of Jesuit Education




Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (in pedagogy and technology).

  • Certification in CTS-Design, Extron Audio Visual Associate, Extron Control Specialist, and Extron Control Professional.

  • Demonstrated understanding of Fordham €™s culture and environment, as well as the technical, business, and cultural environment of higher education in general.

  • Familiar with teaching environments and learning spaces.

  • Strong skills in the performance and supervision of specific application of concepts within learning space design and emerging technology.

  • Strong analytical and technical problem-solving skills.




Minimum Starting Salary: $68,000



Maximum Starting Salary: $85,020



Note: Salary is commensurate with qualifications, experience, and skills.
