Are you passionate about maintaining healthy, sustainable landscapes? UVU is looking for an IPM Grounds Specialist to support our beautiful campus by implementing effective, environmentally responsible pest management practices. In this role, you'll oversee pest control strategies that prioritize the least toxic methods, ensuring the care of turf, trees, flowers, and other outdoor structures. You'll also document maintenance practices, monitor pest activity, and apply treatments as needed.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Under the direction of their immediate superior, implements the campus Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program, ensuring all pest control measures are performed safely, effectively, and in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Responsible for the acquisition, safe use, and maintenance of IPM tools, supplies, and equipment.
- Supervises and/or applies fertilizer(s) to all grass areas on campus.
- Conducts snow removal in timely, safe fashion on all UVU properties.
- Perform other job related duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications
Graduation from an accredited institution with an associate's degree and two years of related experience or any combination of education and experience totaling four years.
Licenses or Certifications
IPM Certified (can be achieved on the job). IPM Certification to be obtained within the first year of employment. Must be able to maintain certification through out employment.
Must posses a current Utah Driver's License.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Knowledge
- Knowledge of current Integrated Pest Management (IPM) principles and practices.
- Knowledge of plant names, landscape use, and cultural requirements.
- Knowledge of correct pesticide use. Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures.
- Skills in operation of landscape and chemical application equipment.
- Skills in training and supervision of hourly employees.
- Skills in time and resource management.
- Ability to diagnose plant conditions, cultural needs, and recommend treatment.
