Detailed Description:
The Hahn School of Nursing and Health Science at the University of San Diego (USD) invites applications for a full time Clinical Associate Professor (non-tenure-track) position. The initial appointment is for one year with the possibility of renewal based on performance, department needs, and funding. The successful candidate will have an earned doctoral degree in nursing and experience teaching in a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program. All courses are taught in person on campus at the University of San Diego.

Detailed Description:
  • Teach and mentor DNP students in both classroom and clinical settings.
  • Act as a liaison between DNP faculty, students, and administration to improve program outcomes and address student concerns.
  • Assess student learning outcomes and evaluate overall program effectiveness.
  • Develop and enhance the DNP curriculum to maintain academic excellence.
  • Engage in evidence-based practice scholarship to contribute to the advancement of nursing education and practice.
  • Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in University and School of Nursing committees to support institutional initiatives.
  • Attend and contribute to faculty meetings, school events, and professional development activities.

Degree Verification Requirement: Persons offered employment in this position will be required to provide official education transcripts for degree verification purposes.


Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:

Doctoral degree, PhD or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree from an accredited school of nursing program.

Active California RN license.

At least two years of teaching experience in a DNP program.

Preferred Qualifications:

Five or more years of teaching experience in higher education.

Experience in program administration, student support, and faculty coordination.

An active program of research or scholarly activity.

Experience teaching in classroom and hybrid/hyflex learning environments.

Demonstrated leadership experience in nursing education or clinical practice.

Performance Expectations:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Expertise in teaching theoretical and/or clinical aspects of nursing in an innovative learning environment.

Strong organizational and leadership skills to oversee programmatic initiatives and student progress.

Ability to integrate technology and evidence-based practices into teaching.

Special Conditions of Employment:

Successful completion of USD's on-boarding requirements including but not limited to Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, health and immunization requirements, pre-employment background check and drug screening.

Verification of degree and RN licensure.

Teaching Location:

All DNP courses are conducted in person on USD's campus in San Diego, CA.

Tools and Equipment Used:

Computer and classroom technology.

Physical Demands:

The position requires the ability to sit, lift, carry, push/pull, reach, exercise hand and finger dexterity, read, hear, and articulate clearly using speech.

Work Environment:

Primarily in classroom and clinical learning environments.

The salary range provided in this posting reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Actual compensation offered or earned is dependent on experience, education and other factors including departmental budget.
