Position Description
Supervises and coordinates activities of subordinate guards in the protection of facilities against theft, vandalism, illegal entry, and other destructive activities.

Major/Essential Functions

Opens and closes the Museum Building, including security systems, securing specified areas, and issuing badges and key sets.
Opens and closes Museum galleries and facilities, including lighting, exhibit cases and cabinets, interactive displays, and audio/visual equipment.
Reacts professionally in emergency situations and assists with the coordination and execution of building emergency procedures. Monitors and maintains first aid kits and AEDs; responsible for general monitoring of building fire extinguishers and other life safety equipment systems.
Responsible for programming all keypad-based locks and ensuring keypads are working properly.
Performs supervisory duties related to Security of Museum including guard oversight, scheduling, evaluation and training.
Responsible for operation of all alarm, CCTV, and access control systems, and for monitoring of these systems for errors and maintenance issues.Responsible overall for training guards and technicians in proper use of camera system, and all A/V equipment in the facility.
Responsible for reporting problems regarding safety hazards and maintenance issues to the appropriate Museum or University staff, such as leaks, inoperative lighting, injuries, and acts of vandalism or neglect inside the building or on the Museum campus.
Maintains proficient knowledge of the facility and of potentially hazardous conditions such as illegal entry, malicious activity, and severe weather via monitoring of media, emergency services, and Museum security systems.
Monitors and patrols the Museum building and campus to ensure the safety and security of the facility, the collections and exhibits, and our staff, students, and guests.
Responsible for coordination and oversight of access or escort of delivery personnel, maintenance staff, and other persons as appropriate to the level of access necessary for accomplishing the task.
Manages the general daily function of the Security team and Information Kiosk, including procedures, record-keeping, procurement, and general reporting.
Maintain proficiency in use of scissor lift and fork lift.
Responsible for requesting training through supervisor for people needing training on this equipment.

Required Qualifications
Completion of high school or equivalent plus three years security, customer service, public relations or related experience.

Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience leading, directing and supervising subordinate staff members.
