Job Description
The primary function of this position is to provide support to the Environmental Program.
Responsibilities
The primary function of this position is to provide support to the Environmental Program in the following areas:
- Collecting, segregating, bulking, and storing hazardous waste generated by the University on a weekly basis
- Manage and inspect 90-day CAA waste areas and Satellite Accumulation Areas
- Conduct cleanup of small spills, as needed
- Move and/or replace waste drums from various laboratories
- Assist in developing and revising environmental policies, procedures, and written program documents for the Environmental Program
- Conduct compliance inspections / audits and generate written reports
- Prepare and ship waste products and samples
- Assist with management of a limited quantity of "Mixed Radioactive Waste & Bio-Hazardous Waste
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Associate degree in one of the following areas of study: chemistry, environmental science, environmental health, environmental engineering, hazardous materials management, environmental management, industrial hygiene, toxicology, or similar program.
Experience: Minimum 2-3 years' work experience in safety and health, or environmental field experience.
The following are preferred:
Bachelor's Degree in field of study described above
OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER Training
DOT/RCRA/IATA certifications
Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM)
